2020.11.22 05:07 oldesch [WANTED][FOR TRADE][FOR SALE] LOTS of Bowie, King Crimson, Boz Scaggz, ALSO: Radiohead, NIN, Toadies, and LOTS More; ALSO: Acrade Fire, Radiohead, & NIN Poster & Memorabilia; ISO: A Lot

I am looking to trade for some holes in my collection. Before buying it all I figured I would try to trade for them. I posted this a week ago and accomplished absolutely nothing, I am going to start pricing at least some of the stuff, but I am more open to trade or selling lots.
If you have anything on my list you just want to sell please let me know
The older albums are mostly VG but I will check them before making a deal if interested. For a basis id say all VGish. If you are particular on pressing I can verify for you but no special pressings unless noted.
This is my first time selling but I have bought a lot on here and can link you to my ebay sellers profile and discogs (never sold, but a lot of online purchasing).
If you are interested please message instead of chat, I dont think the app I use supports it.
I can also send pics of the merch or vinyl if interested.
I'm working on pricing the rest, at this point still consider it a trade post.
Feel free to pm offers on UNPRICED stuff.. most prices are pretty fair or low and pretty firm unless buying bulk
Shipping $5 for one, +$1 for each other.

2020.11.18 17:18 bigdonglen69 What specs go well with what stand

  1. Cream and hamon/vampirism (hamon barrage does like 1.7 last time i checked and vamp gives u regen)
  2. Silver chariot requiem and spin (You can do mad combos with this)
  3. Sticky fingers and boxing (your just untouchable)
  4. TWAU and spin (OP as hell and you can spam)
  5. Hermit purple and pluck/hamon (great for SBR and for combos)
  6. The hand hamon (its terrifying and scary for players in SBR)
  7. D4C hamon/vamp (hamon barrage does so much and with vamp u can use your clones to heal)
  8. White album boxing (white album is very tanky and gently weeps blocks all projectiles and with boxing you take less dmg)
  9. Killer Queen Vamp ( a combo u can use is C+T+V+H+E+Y+G)
  10. KQ BTD Vamp or hamon (combo goes the same with vamp but with hamon dont get any of the spec moves just get the charge ,defence and duration)

Scare Me To Sleep. [The Diary of a Parasomniac]
When the wind picks up and whistles through the trees,
Is it carrying a voice? Is it somebody’s scream?
I’ve been writing scary stories most of my life. It started when I was young; a lonesome, only child left to face my fears with no real friends or siblings to confide in. My parents raised me with the idea of rearing an exceptional, independent child. And they did- I read myself my own stories to scare myself to sleep. I know how backwards that sounds, but as a kid I recognized that fear was something that I contrived and it was my choice whether to let it control me or to create it myself so that I knew each detail of the web of bullshit I’d spun so I’d sleep soundly through the night. This has worked for me for most of my life, I’ve found that I still like telling myself these stories even as an adult- some of us will never grow too old to be afraid of the dark.
However, lately I’ve been seeing remnants of them too much in my everyday life. What were once consolation stories I created out of fear now seem to be reflected in my surroundings as though I wrote my wild childhood fears and fantasies into my current reality. Sometimes it’s just a feeling I’d described in one of my stories, a common fear. Other times it’s a character from one of my stories come to life to scare the bejeezus out of me. And the worst of it is when I find myself in the same situations faced by the protagonists of my stories. I’m worried that I can’t decide whether the stories are coming to life and haunting me or if I’ve been subconsciously recording my real life experiences and am just now discovering that they not only terrify me but have been inducing a paranoia that’s making me question every aspect of my life.
Was this my childhood coping mechanism exacerbated by years of drinking and drug use into a lifestyle condition? Or have I simply driven myself into such serious paranoia that I’m hallucinating my greatest fears? I’m documenting these experiences both as I remember them and from a series of notes I keep on my bedside table. This is real, this is happening to me, and I’m not sure what to make of it or how much time I have left. But if there’s anyone else out there who sees the absolute worst, most blood-curdling possibility in mundane life and its eating them alive, then I need to share my experiences in hopes that they might find this forum and uncover some sort of solace in knowing that they aren’t the only adult being scared to their imminent demise. Have any other writers out there experienced something like this?
It was some pretty common fears that I first started to notice as something more than a prescribed childhood fantasy. You know, like, when you’re a kid and there're still monsters under the bed? And then when the tree branches tap and scratch the window with their impatient skeleton fingers and suddenly you’re so deep in the grasp of fear that the very thought of putting your leg over the edge of the bed is utterly crippling? Well, I’m not embarrassed to admit that even at 25 years old something about the dark floor between my bed and the lightswitch feels like an expanse which could swallow me whole before I ever reached the safety that would flood the room with light and banish my fears back to my imagination. But that’s normal, right? Other people get their stomach in a twist about all the things that could be lurking in the dark while they lay, petrified to dive for the lights… right? But this was only the first of an absolutely common and ordinary circumstance that started to… go awry for lack of better phrasing.
I’ve always had a problem with sleep paralysis, another reason the storytelling became so vital to me from a young age and remains so. If you’ve never experienced sleep paralysis, lemme tell ya it’s worse than you could possibly imagine. Worse for some than others- from what I’ve heard, everyone experiences it differently and not everyone reacts to it the same way. For me personally, it’s an immediate awareness of consciousness followed by a sudden constriction as I realize I can’t move a muscle. I am entirely aware of my surroundings- I can see and I can hear but I cannot move or react or even breath, or at least it feels like it. It’s like being buried alive, but left vulnerable and paralyzed where you fell asleep, eyes wide open to see what lurks about you in the night. That alone scares me senseless every time, but lately there’s something worse going on. And I know, it’s perfectly common to hallucinate during an episode of sleep paralysis, but this just… different- it seems too real, too consistent.
I wake up, trapped in whatever unfortunate position my spastic ass twisted into for sleep, staring usually at the ceiling or where it meets a wall. And then the floorboards creak beneath the weight of something taking slow, deliberate steps toward my door. The door handle jiggles a few times, then the door rattles against it’s frame as though someone is shaking it, demanding entry. I can’t see if the door opens, there’s no light that spills in from the hall, but then I hear the footsteps again picking their way closer to my bedside. My heart is in my throat and I mentally beg my lungs to suck in more air to support the scream that’s building within my very core and just when I think I can’t take one more agonizing second of this intense fear, it dissipates and I’m able to drift off to sleep just enough that I jump awake able to move again. I’ve always told myself it was all in my head.
After dealing with this enough times, I thought I was crafty in deciding to prop myself up to make sure I fell asleep facing the direction of the door. If someone was really coming up to my room, much less coming in, I’d know about it. But it wasn’t the footsteps or the door handle freaking me out now that I could see them, it was the coat rack beside the door. Again, we all went through this as kids, didn’t we? As I lay paralyzed in absolute terror staring toward the door, I feel the eyes of something beside the door boring into my very soul. So sure am I that there’s someone there in the dark, watching me night after night that it made me think of the last story I wrote about the coat rack draped with jackets and sweaters just the right size and shape to be… somebody watching. But in my story, it wasn’t the silhouette of the coats and their rack that created what seemed like a man lurking in the corner of the room. It was actually a man who crept in night after night, donned a coat from the rack, and stood in front of it. Watching, waiting, hungry...
I didn’t really start to see the connections to my stories though until a rainy day fogged up the windows of my car. I turned on the interior light to reach into my glove box for a tissue and I noticed the light reflecting something in the fog of the windshield. It was a handprint, certainly too large to be mine. I didn’t think much of it at first, but decided to look around the rest of the car, maybe some kids had drawn smiley faces or profanity in the dew. But what I found was that the hand prints were on every window, especially the large back window of the hatchback. But it wasn’t just handprints either, there were other curved shapes to the right of each left handprint. It took me a few minutes to put it together, but as I pressed my left hand to the windshield to mimic the print and balled my right into a fist and matched it up to the other shape… it was the side of a fist as though someone had been banging their hand and pounding their fist on the windows. Not wanting to think more about it, I flicked on my windshield wipers to brush the ones in my line of sight away. My body went ice cold when I realized- they were on the inside. But it couldn’t be, I hadn’t had anyone in my car, I couldn’t have done it myself… and then another one of my stories came to mind. The protagonist never checked the trunk of her hatchback and she realized it too late when she looked around and saw handprints all over. On the inside.
I began thinking I was just becoming paranoid about all these inconsequential coincidences, but it wasn’t just odd observations anymore. I was consistently experiencing physical manifestations of the creepy crawlers I wrote about. I woke up one morning with what felt like a stye. It wasn’t my first, by far. When I’m stressed out or not sleeping well I tend to get itchy eyes that I can’t help but rub and often enough it results in waking up with one of these demonic pimples between my eyelashes. But this one was different. When I went to the mirror to confirm my notion, I was puzzled when I didn’t see a stye. But goddamn was my eye itchy and painful, it almost felt like an eyelash was floating around in it but it was more painful even than that- sharper, somehow. So naturally I began the arduous activity of peeling back each eyelid as far as they would go and rolling my eye around in it’s socket while I strained my unbothered eye to look for the source of the irritation. I was sure of it on every third eye roll that I had glimpsed a piece of glitter floating around.
Odd because it wasn’t like I had a girlfriend or some woman in my life that was crafty or anything so I couldn’t imagine where it’d come from, but nevertheless I kept seeing the sparkle catching the light and disappearing just as quickly. Imagine an eyelash, made of glass, pulling a houdini every time you tried to pry it from your cornea- it was maddening. And as I continued to pick and pick over the course of days, I was losing as many eyelashes as I was tears and sanity. And it hit me. The sandman. I wrote a story about children waking up with a single grain of sand in their eyes that they can’t seem to rinse or pick out and as it slowly slices their cornea they begin to slowly claw their eye out over days. And it was happening to me now.
A tiny preface for this one; I have a lot of insects pinned in shadow boxes. I know, that’s creepy to some people in and of itself. But they fascinate me and I actually don’t have any issues or fears when it comes to insects. But lately something isn’t right about them. I’d go so far actually as to say that something is very wrong or off about them. At first it was just out of the corner of my eye, just a little twitch or flutter that I wrote off as my imagination. But now I can hear them skittering about, wings and legs tittering against the glass. Some of them sound as though they’re suddenly made of metal, a fork scraping sharply against a plate. But the noise isn’t always temporary anymore… it’s acting almost like a tinnitus.
My waking hours got even worse as I started to feel each morning as though certain items in my apartment had been adjusted just enough for me to notice. I’m aware, that sounds wicked paranoid, and god help me I wish that it was. But again, I thought I could outsmart my fear and prove these notions to be a figment of my own twisted brain. I started marking with chalk, then tape, then permanent makers and nails where Items were and which direction they faced. It was little things at first; my fan would be facing a different direction than when I fell asleep, the blanket on my bed would be different than the one I fell asleep with… But then it started to become more noticeable things, things I couldn’t possibly be doing in my sleep. My books would all be facing a different direction on the shelf. The bookcases themselves would be moved six inches in one direction or the other. The vanity that took two people to move when it was empty would be moved four inches out from the wall. And as I started marking more permanently with the nails I became sure of the fact that these impossible items were, in fact, being moved without my consent or participation.
Needless to say, my sleep was essentially wrecked from whatever phenomena I’ve been experiencing. I started sleeping with my electric blanket on low for a little extra warmth to carry me through the endless chills. But one morning I woke up in pain as though my skin had been set fire to in the night. Instinctively I yanked back the blanket to inspect the damage to reveal both legs with stripes of severe second degree burns in the same pattern as the wires in the blanket. That couldn’t be though, those blankets don’t even get hot enough to cause burns- and if they did, certainly it would’ve damaged the blanket as well as my skin… but nothing, the blanket was cool to the touch- in fact, it wasn’t even plugged in. As I gathered my wits about me and decided to go have the burns treated, I found myself pausing to decide, ‘okay, what story is this shit from?’. I was finally beginning to buy that this might all stem from my need to document things that scare me. But I wasn’t afraid of warm blankets, that’s definitely not in the stories… but someone being cooked alive, slowly… that was definitely one of mine. It was one I heard a lot as a kid that I adapted to fit my age range. The one about the prom queen who goes to so many tanning beds back to back that she essentially cooks herself alive… could that be what the electric blanket had in store for me?
I think most horrifying of all is something I’m sure isn’t real but scares me just the same. My favorite series of stories I wrote were about a female serial killer; the tattoo thief. When I wake in the night sometimes, presumably because of an itch, the itch doesn’t simply scratch. As I pick and claw at what itches painfully like fiberglass, my tattoos peel off like stickers in a sticky, fleshy, bloody mess that takes my breath away before I can scream my guts out. I can’t quite get to the bottom of this illusion. It’s so real- I feel it, I smell it, I can taste blood at the back of my tongue. Yet every time I wake up from this particular episode my tattoos are intact, but they look swollen and scratched and just… off. As though they were in fact removed and pushed back into place by the clumsy hands of a child.
I did attempt to distract myself with hobbies and activities I seek out in times I need catharsis. Writing obviously wasn’t going to help me through this state of fright, so I leaned on music and reading to carry me through. But here’s the thing, and this is much of why I’m beginning to question my own sanity between believing my own stories or hallucinating my trepidation. Songs, hell, entire playlists that I normally enjoyed when I needed comfort were no longer there. I don’t mean just deleted from my spotify account, I mean wiped out of existence. Artists and albums who’d for years patched the holes in my happiness simply no longer existed. Nobody I talked to had ever heard of them and no matter how I googled the lyrics or any aspect of the album to lead me back to these pieces I so sorely missed, they simply weren’t there.
I could write that off though, tell myself that I had simply mixed them up with something else and I had it wrong or I was searching it wrong… there had to be some way to explain how this music could simply cease to be findable. But the books I can’t explain to myself at all. Every book I pick up, cookbooks, nonfiction, sci-fi, textbooks- by the third or fourth chapter each and every one of them loops back to the beginning. I didn’t always notice it right away, I was so determined not to think of anything else I was throwing myself into reading each and every word on the page. But over time the nagging feeling at the back of my mind began to creep into focus. Something wasn’t right, I wasn’t unable to finish these books for lack of focus- I simply wasn’t able to finish the books. Oh, believe me I checked to see if it was the books themselves, but when I would flip through them cover to cover all the pages and chapters and words were there and accounted for. But when I began to read them, every goddamned one of them would at some point end a chapter by circling back to chapter one. And regretfully, the protagonist who faced this same fuckery… well, let’s just say things didn’t end well for him. Is the same thing happening to me? Am I going crazy like he was? Or am I experiencing another story I wrote? Which kind of crazy is it?!
Now here’s one of the most confusing parts of all: some of the pieces I’ve written, like the songs I want to listen to, simply no longer exist. I’m sure I wrote them, I’d stake my life on that. We’re talking about painstaking hours spent writing and editing these pieces that I remember such intricate details about- both the writing itself and the very process of creating them start to finish, and they’ve simply disappeared. There’s no sign of them on my laptop or notebooks, no notes scribbled on bar napkins pinned to my corkboard- no evidence they ever existed except the memory of the general gist and the nagging feeling of satisfaction in their being complete and excited to wake up and read and edit them. Even the friends who I’ve shared my work with before who have given me critique and read a lot of my work have no recollection of me even mentioning these concepts, much less fleshing them out into full stories. So this keeps leading me further down the same damn road: am I living my stories or am I writing my psychotic break into short stories that I label ‘fiction’ and ‘horror’?
Just the same as I’ve been plagued by sleep paralysis from a young age, I’ve been a sleep walker even longer. I know, it’s like bedwetting and you’re supposed to outgrow it, especially by your teen years. But I think we’ve fairly established that I’m a bit of an anomaly and my sleep habits are… questionable at best. It doesn’t happen often anymore, but in peak times of stress it resurfaces to wreak havoc on my nights and, in turn, my days.
I’m only bringing this up because it’s a vital detail in a story I wrote about a girl who goes mad because of her sleepwalking and a persistent tinnitus. I find myself horror-stricken to realize the similarities my current situation bears to hers, it didn’t end well for her despite her pleas for assistance or guidance or someone to just listen to what was happening to her. And I’m even more terrified that this document is exactly that. A last plea for help that, like hers, will go overlooked or unnoticed until it’s too late. Like her, I wake up some nights with clumps of hair and blood on my pillow. She experienced her tinnitus during waking hours and it drove her mad enough to start tearing her hair out at the roots, but I’m waking up like this. I’m under the impression that I’m experiencing the tenacious noise of the insects in my dreams now and I’m so far engulfed in the matter that I’m able to rip my hair from my scalp in a fitful attempt to break the dream and rescue myself to consciousness. But the madness isn’t what killed her. The sleepwalking was ultimately what walked her right into her own grave.
I’ve sleepwalked a considerable amount of times as I said, but it’s different now. It’s not just waking up in a different room than where I went to sleep or getting dressed or anything that I’m used to. Now these parasomniac episodes are turning into a recurring dream come to life to try to kill me. I find myself waking up in the same place every time. There’s a lake maybe 100 yards from my back door and when I wake from my fugue state I find myself standing before it. Not in the same place every time either. I wake closer and closer to the lake’s edge, as though some greater force is pulling me closer and closer to a watery grave, and there’s nothing I can do to fight it as I’m asleep. I’ve tried every logical protocol I can think of, from blockading my doors to setting Home Alone-style trip wire alarms to try and wake myself before I’m able to leave the apartment. But it’s as though my unconscious mind is acutely aware of what I’d done consciously and can maneuver delicately through any set up, hell bent on guiding me to the lake’s edge…
I can feel that there’s something sucking me in.
As I stand before the glassy, black water, the first thing that always registers to me is the sound of the wind screeching through the trees behind me. And it makes me uneasy, is it just an aggressive breeze, or is it a distant scream? Are they screaming for help? Or is it my scream? And I’m hearing the wind carry it away so someone might hear my ghost? Which story is going to end me? Or will I simply wake up one night, at the bottom of the lake, watching the last bubbles of my muffled scream scurry to the surface… destined to pull the next sleepwalker down to my watery grave...

Is The Crown true to life? A royal expert’s analysis of season 4, ep.1-5 An episode-by-episode guide by the royal historian Hugo Vickers, taken from his book The Crown Dissected. Copied from https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/is-the-crown-true-to-life-season-4-episodes-hwxzkdsm3#.
Episodes 6-10 https://www.reddit.com/TheCrownNetflix/comments/jvymsf/is_the_crown_true_to_life_a_royal_experts/
This season covers the period from May 1979, when Margaret Thatcher is elected Britain’s first female Prime Minister until the Christmas of 1990, shortly after she has been drummed out of office. In writing these chapters, I take on board the statement made in pre-publicity by Peter Morgan: ‘We do our very, very best to get it right, but sometimes I have to conflate [incidents] . . . You sometimes have to forsake accuracy, but you must never forsake truth [my italics].’ I appreciate that this is television, and that it is not a documentary, but it is about real people, and sometimes about real situations. As before, I will report factual errors, some trivial, some more serious. I noticed that the timeline was considerably awry in this season, and that by making one incident follow quick on the heels of another, the truth was unfairly ‘conflated’ for dramatic effect. I am sorry to say that truth is frequently forsaken.
Fundamentally this season is about the relationship between the Queen and Mrs Thatcher, and between the Prince of Wales and Diana. This creates a new problem for anyone watching it, as in both these relationships, there are numerous contradictions, there has been much side-taking and it is possible to slant things in a variety of different ways. Nevertheless, even with that taken into consideration, there are truths and untruths, and these I intend to explain.
I found that Season 4 was more subtle and cunningly divisive than in the earlier episodes. It occurred to me when I completed my first viewing that pretty much every character is dislikeable. The Queen is glum and schoolmistressly, the Queen Mother is given some truly horrible lines, Princess Margaret is downright rude, Mrs Thatcher buttoned up, and so on. Diana is well played by Emma Corrin (who at times even turns into her) and she seems to be the heroine of this series, largely portrayed as the victim of a heartless family.
Episode 1 Gold Stick
Why not start as you mean to go on – with a massive howler? It is the Trooping of the Colour on Saturday 16 June 1979 – it has to be as we see Lord Mountbatten riding as Colonel of Life Guards – Gold Stick – for the last time. But the Queen is in the uniform of Colonel-in-Chief of Grenadier Guards with the riband of the Garter, whereas it was the colour of the Scots Guards being trooped that year, and on that day she wore the uniform of Colonel-in-Chief of Scots Guards (a thistle, not a grenade on the collar) and the dark green riband and star of the Order of the Thistle – and no plume in her cap as it is the central of the five regiments of guards. Prince Philip should also have worn a green Thistle riband – not a blue Garter one, as he did in June 1979. The continuity department has slipped up over Charles Dance. He rides to the parade wearing a breastplate – but appears on the balcony for the flypast without it. He would not have had time to change.
To be fair, they get most medals and Orders right during this series, including Orders of Australia when appropriate, which proves they can do it if they try.
The themes in this episode are Mrs Thatcher becoming Britain’s first female Prime Minister, the assassination of Lord Mountbatten by the IRA, the first meeting of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer, with hints that all is not well in the marriage of Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips.
Gillian Anderson plays Margaret Thatcher with a particular voice, which the real Mrs Thatcher sometimes used – as though she is addressing her interlocutor in a speech, rather than conversing naturally. I got the impression that we were not being encouraged to like Mrs Thatcher. She is played more confidently here than the nervously respectful person she was in relation to her sovereign. Charles Moore, her official biographer wrote: ‘Mrs Thatcher was anxious about meeting the Queen in the way most ordinary citizens would be, worrying about what to wear, when to curtsey and how to avoid being late. She needed frequent reassurance.’
In she comes to Buckingham Palace (always through the middle ceremonial gates rather than the right-hand ones) for her first audience. It was interesting to find the Prince Philip character referring to her disparagingly as a chemist, since in real life he rather admires scientists. (I would suggest they were higher in his esteem than most professions.) The Queen would never have listed her choices for the cabinet, even for fun.
The Royal Family arrive en masse at Balmoral. So it is August 1979. Princess Anne’s marriage is in trouble. In this series, her accents are immensely clipped. The etiquette adviser has also muddled the cast over the way members of the Royal Family approach the Queen. The Royal Family have well established ways in which they greet each other. One such is kissing a hand, a chivalrous gesture, usually instigated by a man. Men in royal families greet married female relations that way and also elderly spinster aunts, etc. In real life, Prince Charles kisses the Queen on both cheeks. He then kisses her hand, rather than giving a Coburg bow (a quick neck bow), which he and other cast members do in this series – not hard to get right. This is even done in private. This mistake happens over and over in this series.
It is not often that we see members of the Royal Family, but when Prince Philip met the Queen Mother outside St Paul’s Cathedral for the memorial service for President Eisenhower in 1969, he arrived last as he was representing the Queen. He came up, they shook hands as he bowed and kissed her hand simultaneously, and then she swept him up, as it were, and he kissed her on both cheeks.
As to the assassination of Lord Mountbatten at Mullaghmore, this portrayal will not appeal to the families of those who died and who have responded so nobly since – in the interests of advancing peace in Northern Ireland.
Mountbatten did not engineer the marriage of Andrew Parker Bowles to Camilla Shand. They needed no help from him. In this episode, he writes Prince Charles a note, which will be delivered posthumously – no such note was written.
Peter Morgan deployed a symbolic stag in his film, The Queen, which some found a fantasy of symbolic genius but others deemed tiresome. Here, as the IRA killers take position, we get cutaways to blood sports at Balmoral, shooting and stalking – and the Prince Charles figure viciously killing a salmon he has caught in Iceland. Presumably we are meant to muse on the bloodthirsty Royal Family slaughtering living creatures left and right, while one of their own (who throws a lobster back into the sea to breed for the future) is himself blown to a thousand pieces.
We are shown scenes of members of the family and others receiving the news of Mountbatten’s death. Mrs Thatcher is brought out of a cabinet meeting at Downing Street. It was a surprise to find the cabinet sitting on a Bank Holiday Monday in August, in the middle of the parliamentary summer recess.
The death of Mountbatten prompts a scene in which the Prince Philip character berates Prince Charles for potentially wallowing in mawkish grief. According to this scene, Prince Philip was resentful of Mountbatten transferring his affection and interest from him to Prince Charles. The Crown seldom misses a chance to besmirch the character and motives of Prince Philip. It is not for me to say what was in the head of the real Prince Philip, but my understanding is that he thought Mountbatten’s influence on Prince Charles to be somewhat unhelpful, and I remember that earlier in that very summer (1979) the real-life Prince Philip had expressed amused irritation at the way Mountbatten continually interfered in everything (in a conversation with Lady Alexandra Metcalfe). Which is not to suggest for one minute that the real Prince Philip was not greatly affected by the assassination.
Time is ‘out of joint’ (Hamlet) in respect of the list of Prince Charles’s girlfriends, this in 1979, with Mountbatten at the table. They name Anna Wallace, who did not appear on the scene until 1980 (so not 1979), and dropped out in the summer of that year; there is mention of Sarah Spencer (1977) and repetition of the nonsense that the family squashed the chance Prince Charles had to marry Camilla Shand, who in reality was always going to marry Andrew Parker Bowles and had done so in 1973.
Charles and Diana first met properly at Althorp in 1977 (here implied to be 1979), though the Royal Family had known the Spencers forever. In recent times, Cynthia, Countess Spencer had been a Lady of the Bedchamber to the Queen Mother between 1937 and 1972. Viscount Althorp (later Earl Spencer from 1975), father of Sarah and Diana Spencer, had been the equerry on the Commonwealth tour of 1953-54, and the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Queen Mother, Princess Margaret, had attended his wedding to Hon. Frances Roche in Westminster Abbey in 1954. So the fabricated scene in which Prince Charles spots Lady Diana Spencer, trying to hide as a tree, does not entirely wash because even if he did not recognise her, he would have known who she was. Until they moved to Althorp, the family had lived at Park House, Sandringham, a fairly substantial residence very close to Sandringham House, and to St Mary Magdalene Church (and not a ‘cottage’ as described by the Prince Philip character in the next episode).
From what has been written, we know that Diana was drawn to the sorrow of Prince Charles, when she observed his grief at the murder of Lord Mountbatten and that she had the chance to tell him that in the summer after the assassination – 1980. On 17 May the same year, Lady Sarah got married. In this episode, Prince Charles rings her to ask her permission to invite Diana out. But no. He did not ask her out. This episode ends with him doing just that.
Episode 2 The Balmoral Test.
This episode is based on the entirely false premise that the Royal Family use Balmoral to lay social traps for their guests to see if they pass the test – and no doubt viewers will be amused to see the Thatchers being subjected to this – shown up as socially inadequate, falling into every predictable trap placed in their path. The Lady Diana Spencer figure is also put through this process, but passes with flying colours. It is of course ludicrous to suggest that the Queen and her family would treat guests in this way, and a real-life guest has pointed out: ‘NO WAY would HM and the rest of her family berate Margaret Thatcher or her husband. They in fact bend over backwards to make people feel welcome and at home.’
By and large the episode is based in Scotland, opening with a scene in which a Japanese businessman has bought some shooting from neighbours to Balmoral, and seriously wounds a fourteen-point Imperial stag, which stumbles off camera. As related, Peter Morgan likes the symbolism he finds in stags, the stag reappearing as the plot unfolds.
In London, the Charles figure takes the Diana figure to the opera on a date, overseen by Diana’s maternal grandmother, Ruth, Lady Fermoy, here played as a ferocious old harridan by the Scottish actress Georgie Glen. (The real Lady Fermoy was much more surface gentle.) This was set in the summer of 1980 (not 1979 when the Thatchers go to Balmoral). No such occasion took place. It leads to an invitation from Charles to Diana to come up to Balmoral. Meanwhile, Mrs Thatcher tackles her stuffy old cabinet of public-school ministers, all of whom are against her.
So, on with the secret tests. The Thatchers arrive at Balmoral. (This is clearly their first visit, so in reality 8 September 1979, the weekend after Mountbatten’s ceremonial funeral). The servants are superciliously rude to them despite calling the Prime Minister ‘Ma’am (!)’ – I would have thought ‘Madam’. We see Denis offering a tip at the wrong time, Mrs T. insisting on unpacking her own suitcase, having no outdoor shoes, coming down in evening dress to find the Royal Family drinking tea, unchanged, and later being subjected to a ridiculous parlour game designed to further humiliate them. The Queen invites Mrs T. out stalking, criticising her for what she is wearing, and when Mrs T. returns to the castle, the Princess Margaret figure is intensely rude to her and picks her up for saying ‘I beg your pardon’, and condemns her as ‘common’ to her face. But they don’t show the audience – a chat with the Queen in her private sitting room, a feature of the real-life visits.
I wondered when the old business of Queen Victoria’s chair would be thrown in. It is. The actual chair is still in a drawing room at Balmoral, but is a very low, winged armchair. It is true that no one is to sit in it – but it would hardly have been placed at a desk – and Queen Victoria was tiny, so there is no way that Margaret Thatcher would have chosen it when she settled down to work. Had she done so her chin would have been where her elbows should be. (Reasonably recently the real chair has been moved to a place where people are less likely to sit in it.)
The Braemar Games, with men tossing the caber, prompt Denis Thatcher to denounce the Royal Family as living in ‘half-Scottish, half-Germanic cuckooland’. (Having once had a long conversation with the real Sir Denis in 1997, I can attest that that is very far from what he thought about the Royal Family.) And so the Thatchers plead urgent business in London and leave early. They did no such thing.
The film-makers could have consulted Carol Thatcher’s biography of her father, in which he described the form of the Balmoral visit:
There was a house party and some of the people who’d been shooting didn’t come in until later and then there were more drinks – because they’re very generous with drink – and then we went in for dinner. In their language it’s probably very informal but nevertheless you’re on tiptoe. There’s the usual sort of after-dinner conversation over coffee and then the Queen withdraws fairly early . . .
Back in London, Mrs Thatcher sorts out her cabinet and later quotes Charles Mackay (No Enemies) to the Queen. According to Charles Moore’s official biography, she did use that poem in speeches. Peter Morgan is sounder on politics than when dabbling in the minutiae of Royal Family life – witness his play, The Audience, though Charles Moore, writing before this series was released, made the valid point in his biography of her: ‘Far from being, as some docu-dramas and plays have depicted, little speeches in which Mrs Thatcher laid down the law to the Queen, what she said was usually an anodyne recitation of current business.’
Prince Charles arrives in a Rolls-Royce. By now we have Camilla urging him to invite Diana to stay. (So we have jumped a year to the summer of 1980). There is a strong theme throughout the series that Charles only ever wanted Camilla – before and during his marriage. Then Diana arrives as Mrs Thatcher leaves. In reality, Lady Diana Spencer stayed part of that summer with her sister Jane, whose husband, Robert Fellowes, was one of the Queen’s private secretaries, so they occupied a house on the Balmoral estate. She was invited to Balmoral in October 1980, at a time when the Queen was not there.
But in this episode, all the Royal Family are there, as is Diana’s grandmother, Lady Fermoy. The staff call her ‘Ma’am’ (surely ‘M’lady’ before her marriage) and Prince Philip attempts to bond with her, taking her out early one morning (unlikely) to polish off the wounded stag (waiting an inordinately long time before firing but fortunately the stag poses politely). (This is when he calls Park House, Sandringham a cottage.) Prince Charles, perpetually played as a sad wimp by Josh O’Connor, appears jealous of the bonding between his father and the young girl.
Then we get Prince Philip razzing Charles in the hanging room as the stag is skinned and telling him to get on with marrying Diana. This is a long-held myth. Somewhat later there was a letter in which Prince Philip suggested to his eldest son that he should make his mind up one way or another, either go ahead or not compromise Diana by keeping her hanging on. In real life, Prince Charles interpreted this as an edict to marry her. Jonathan Dimbleby addresses this in his authorised 1994 biography. I know a family relation who saw the letter and confirmed that it was in no way an ultimatum.
However, since this episode is all about tests at Balmoral, Diana passes (‘Rave reviews from the whole ghastly politburo,’ Charles tells Camilla), Princess Anne supports the idea of marriage and, back in London, Mrs Thatcher secures a new cabinet (although the famous cabinet reshuffle was 14 September 1981). Prince Charles is left with his main concern – having to surrender Camilla. We go out to the overture of La traviata, the dead stag’s head hung on the wall at Balmoral and we see a slightly smug Diana.
Episode 3 Fairytale
This episode begins with Prince Charles looking miserably out of a window, and a happy Diana in her little car. Then we see the Royal Family waiting by their telephones to hear if Prince Charles has proposed to Diana or not. He has proposed. In this episode, he does it in the nursery of Windsor Castle (perhaps to symbolise cradle snatching) before packing her off back to her flatmates in London. She runs the gauntlet of the press (I well remember the daily scenes like that), but after the flatmates have screamed their excitement, they are somehow able to go out on the town to a nightclub like Annabel’s without a newsman in sight. In the next scene, Diana chooses an engagement ring, with the Prince Charles figure complaining that she has hit on the most expensive one.
Clearly the girl needs to be schooled. . . In to see the Queen comes Sir Martin Charteris. The actor, Charles Edwards, must have a good agent, since he plays Charteris all the way through Seasons 3 and 4. The real Sir Martin had retired to become Provost of Eton at the end of 1977, but this one stays on and is still there in episode 10. Nor does Charles Edwards’s character age at all – by episode 10 the real Sir Martin would have been 77. This one appears blessed with the gift of eternal youth. He suggests that Diana move into Buckingham Palace.
It is crazy that the Diana figure would make so many gaffes of ‘protocol’ on entering the Queen’s drawing room, considering she had been brought up in royal circles. This precedes the engagement interview.
Of course we get the embarrassing ‘in love? . . . whatever in love means’ line in the engagement interview. In real life, Lady Diana giggled nervously. In this episode, she looks stony-faced. (It is perhaps worth saying that not one newspaper picked up on that phrase at that time. It has been much repeated and reported since then of course.) Altering the timeline – Morgan allows himself to conflate incidents, remember – Prince Charles hooks it back to Highgrove rather than attending the real-life dinner given by the Queen Mother for the couple that night. And literally the next day – rather than towards the end of March – he heads off to the Antipodes and the US for five weeks.
At the airport he tells Diana that Mrs Parker Bowles will be getting in touch with her. He gives her a peck on the cheek and off he goes. So Camilla prepares to enter the fray.
There follow nauseating scenes when harridan Lady Fermoy trains Diana in the ways of royal protocol – almost a take-off of those reality TV shows where some battered old battleaxe tries to give girls who do not have the benefit of Diana’s aristocratic background lessons in elocution and deportment. She suggests that after marriage ‘certain members of the Royal Family will have to curtsey to you’. For the record, HRHs do not curtsey to each other, only to HMs. She tells her granddaughter about the various pages of the backstairs (plural) etc. when there is only one. The information she dispenses is inaccurate. In real life, Diana needed no such schooling.
More credible are Diana’s dance lessons and lonely skating excursions around Buckingham Palace – the trolleys of letters, the flowers that arrive, her loneliness and her kitchen bingeing and throwing up. No one will answer her internal palace telephone calls. These scenes capture well what we now know to have been the unfolding saga. Throughout this episode, her loneliness is stressed.
Prince Charles has not rung from Australia but Camilla gets in touch. A huge Rolls-Royce takes Diana to lunch. The lunch scene is to establish that Camilla knows the Prince better than Diana. Well, yes. From Diana we have been told that at a certain point Camilla establishes that she does not care for Highgrove and thus she will have that territory for herself.
This heralds the ‘Fred’ and ‘Gladys’ bracelets saga. Jonathan Dimbleby wrote that in fact he called Camilla ‘Girl Friday’. When the Prince returns, he goes straight to Camilla. I appreciate that it is hard to untangle facts and timelines, but it was my understanding – based on Dimbleby’s authorised biography – that he only saw Camilla once after the engagement, and that that was to say goodbye to her. As Dimbleby put it: ‘His feelings for Camilla Parker Bowles had not changed, but they had accepted that their intimacy could no longer be maintained.’
Edward Adeane is played as the ultimate grey suits man – hostile to the Princess and fobbing her off at every turn. In real life, Adeane was a likeable, kind-hearted man, shy and even a bit afraid of women in the repressed way of the confirmed bachelor of his day. He did not relate to Diana, and of course she did not share his interest in fishing or shooting.
I remember how thin Diana looked at the wedding rehearsal in St Paul’s Cathedral. In real life, the Prince and Diana arrived together, but here of course they arrive apart and Diana confronts him about the Gladys bracelet. It is true, however, that Princess Margaret was rather dismissive about the romantic elements in that marriage – ‘Charles loves someone else’ – as it is put here.
As detected before, the film-makers clearly hate the Queen Mother, giving her uncharacteristically savage lines.
In this episode, the Queen chooses a curious example of how things work out in arranged marriages, suggesting that the Duke of Clarence was the love of Queen Mary’s life and that after his (timely) death a few weeks after the engagement (1891-92), she took George V as second best – ‘Prince Charmless’. The truth was, as her biographer, James Pope-Hennessy, described it, Princess Mary’s reaction to the idea of marrying Clarence had ‘all the brutal force of a douche of cold water received full in the face’.
Finally, we see Diana at Buckingham Palace the night before the wedding – in truth she was at Clarence House. Diana looks miserable on her wedding day and Charles utterly desperate.
Episode 4 Favourites
This episode highlights the unfortunate disappearance in the desert of the renegade Mark Thatcher, son of the Prime Minister, as he takes part in the 1982 Paris Dakar car rally. It gives the film-makers the chance to point out that Mark was the favourite of Mrs Thatcher’s twins. In real life, Mark’s disappearance turned into a national crisis with a massive rescue operation instigated on his behalf. He turned up, safe and sound, without having had an inkling of the fuss he had caused. Naturally Mrs Thatcher was considerably concerned by the danger of losing him. She breaks down at her audience with the Queen. Fair enough. And we see tensions between the Carol Thatcher figure and her mother (this Carol most unlike the real one).
This prompts an episode in which Prince Philip teases the Queen as to which of her four children is her favourite. He tells her that Princess Anne is his. The Queen then visits each of hers in turn.
First up is Prince Edward, who has been bullied at Gordonstoun, then Princess Anne, who is unhappy in her marriage (true), has had her protection officer removed from her service (Peter Cross sold his story to a tabloid in September 1985, prompting his ex-wife to describe him as ‘a very convincing liar’), but they seriously misunderstand Princess Anne if they think she would complain of her lack of positive press or be resentful of the attention that Diana got by doing nothing more than putting on a particular frock. The real Princess Anne and her parents have the admirable quality of not caring a jot about such things. They do not care about the press; they just get on with the job. My understanding is that the arrival of Diana on the scene liberated Princess Anne to be an executive princess, rather than a clothes horse – in the mind of the media. Like her father, she got on with the job.
Then Prince Andrew arrives by helicopter – no hand kissing of course. There are references to Koo Stark but she does not appear in person. He is played as a more articulate person than we have come to know him from his appearances in interviews over the years.
The Queen then visits Prince Charles at Highgrove. We see him yelling with alarming ferocity through a locked door at Diana, who refuses to come down. She is heavily pregnant with Prince William. Again no hand kissing when he meets the Queen, who emerges from a royal Rolls. The staff are lined up outside the house. Unlikely. He explains Highgrove as his Xanadu and then expounds his problems with Diana, well explored over the years in tabloids and books. (It is well known that she had bouts of unhappiness in late 1981 and in 1982, until the birth of Prince William – and beyond.) He professes he only hunts with Camilla but talks to her whenever he needs to. The Queen advises him to focus more on the well-being of the mother of his future child. Fair enough, but of course there were no such lunches.
Later, the Queen looks at an album, and subsequently tells Philip that their children ‘are lost each in their own desert’. Prince Philip declares that Andrew is her favourite. This episode is designed to stress what a bad mother the Queen has been and that she knows it. It ends with HMS Invincible and HMS Hermes heading to the Falklands War.
Episode 5 Fagan
The Crown sometimes employs real-life footage and real newspapers to tell their story. The intruder incident is introduced in this way, and we even see news footage with the real Willie Whitelaw in it. This was, of course, an extraordinarily dramatic occurrence – that a stranger was not only able to get into Buckingham Palace – twice – but right into the Queen’s bedroom. For the record, the second intrusion took place on 9 July 1982.
So I cannot – and do not – take particular issue with this episode. But it is a pity that the Queen is blamed for the second intrusion by telling Martin Charteris not to report the first one, but I suppose they always have to put her in the wrong. The episode is based on the earlier recollections of Michael Fagan himself (well played by Tom Brooke) and since we do not have the Queen’s version, this rests as the accepted truth. On this occasion, the film-makers have followed that version faithfully. The episode also produced the one line I really admired, which made me laugh – when after the intruder had been taken away by two policemen, the Queen coolly asked if she could now have her cup of morning tea.
It now transpires that the film-makers did not consult the real-life Fagan. When traced to Islington by The Daily Telegraph, he said there was no such conversation, that the Queen ran from the room, and that her page came in and took him off for a whisky until the police arrived on the scene.
A few small points – in June 1982, the Queen took part in the Birthday Parade when the colour of the Coldstream Guards was trooped (and for what it is worth, in real life, she got soaked on parade by heavy rain). The costume department gives her the white/green/white plume of the Welsh Guards (!) – it should have been a red plume, but she is still in the uniform of Colonel-in-Chief of Grenadier Guards. It would have been so easy to change the badge on the collar.
It was interesting to see buses passing along the Mall, but OK, the Michael Fagan character could hardly have taken a taxi. And continuity got confused about the sentry boxes. Sometimes they are inside the Palace railings as they have been since about 1960, but in one scene here, they are outside the main gates.
What a pity that the film-makers did not show the other dramatic incident of the early 1980s – when, in June 1981, the Queen was riding to the Birthday Parade – a man fired blanks at her. The way she controlled the horse and rode through the entire parade without a blink says more for the real-life Queen’s courage than any other incident in the reign, except perhaps how she handled the intruder.
One final vignette. The Falklands War has been won (victory announced on 14 June 1982). When Mrs Thatcher reports the final victory, she heads straight to the victory parade. It was considered that, in so doing, she usurped the Queen’s role as sovereign by taking the salute from Mansion House. In real life, that parade took place on 12 October 1982, four months after the end of the war. At that time the Queen was abroad on a four-week tour of the South Pacific. The Queen had presided over the thanksgiving service at St Paul’s Cathedral earlier in the summer.

2020.11.16 15:20 KyloRensPecs SOTW #11: The Evil Has Landed

As nominated by u/Jiggha, this week's Song of the Week: The Evil Has Landed!
One of the more rockin' songs on Villains, the song features some killer riffs and crooning courtesy of Ginger Elvis. I think The Evil Has Landed embodies the spirit of older QOTSA so well while showing the evolution in their style and writing too. The song continues to build and build until we get to the outro, which not only serves as the climax for the song but really as the climax for the whole album given its penultimate placement in the track list and the somber nature of the final song, Villains of Circumstance. Josh's delivery of the lyric "get outta the way, matters not what the people say" is very reminiscent of how he delivered the lyrics "lie, lie to my face" and "run, you'll never escape" in 3's & 7's, although I'm not sure whether that was intentional or not.

Come close

Going on a living spree
Any wanna come with me
You don't wanna miss your chance
Near-life experience
Faces making noise
Say, be good girls and boys
It ain't half empty or full
You can break the glass, or drink it all
Dig it

Close
Come close

Come close

A grand macabaret
The last float on parade
As they sweep right up behind
Every puzzle piece of mind

Handshake and facade
Play the fool or playing God
Just for God's sake play along
Well, you can hum along, hit it
Du-du-du-du-duah!
Dudududu-duuu-du-du
Du-du-du-du-duah!
Dudududu-duuu-du-du

Going on a living spree

We're all a little tangled
Corroded and mangled, yeah
But I’m for letting go
Yeah I’m for letting go
Yeah I’m for letting go
Yeah I’m for letting go

2020.11.16 14:49 Ok_Trash8550 (MusicOnTheWay Online!!) Killer Be Killed Reluctant Hero -- Album Download on Reddit Music!

Take four incredible musicians, throw them in a jam room, and see what happens. Now take three of those musicians, with entirely different vocal styles, and tell them all to do vocals on the same album and project. I swear it is some kind of voodoo magic, because it doesn’t seem like it should work, but it absolutely does, and it is impressive how well they blend together. Killer Be Killed demonstrated this phenomenon on their debut album, and they have mastered it again with their sophomore album, Reluctant Hero. This record has been in the making for four years, and the reason was simple; they wanted to all be in the same room, work together, not do the virtual thing. They are good friends, it was a pretty damn great excuse to get together with friends and just happen to create a musical masterpiece, yeah I said it. I haven’t listened to it over 20 times in the last couple of weeks to turn around and call it mediocre.
And the good news is that the album is leaked on MusicOnTheWay Webiste.
The band – featuring Max Cavalera (Soulfly/ex-Sepultura), Ben Koller (Converge/Mutoid Man), Greg Puciato (ex-The Dillinger Escape Plan/The Black Queen) and Troy Sanders (Mastodon/Gone Is Gone) – will be releasing their new full-length on November 20 via Nuclear Blast.

Killer Be Killed is an American heavy metal supergroup founded by The Dillinger Escape Plan vocalist Greg Puciato and Soulfly, Cavalera Conspiracy and ex-Sepultura frontman Max Cavalera in early 2011. The lineup also features Mastodon bassist and co-vocalist Troy Sanders and Converge drummer Ben Koller. The band had slowly been working on material before announcing its name in October 2013,[1] along with their signing to Nuclear Blast.[2] The group's self-titled debut record was released on May 13, 2014.[3] On September 4, 2020 the supergroup announced their return with a new single and second album announcement which is to be called Reluctant Hero and to be released on November 20, 2020.

Following up their 2014 debut, supergroup Killer Be Killed have announced a brand-new album, Reluctant Hero.
Killer Be Killed, the supergroup featuring members of Mastodon, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Soulfly and Converge, have just released "Deconstructing Self-Destruction," their first new song in six years. The track comes off their newly announced sophomore record, Reluctant Hero, which will be out Nov. 20.
What's especially appealing about this particular group of metal luminaries is that three of the members — Troy Sanders (Mastodon, Gone Is Gone), Greg Puciato (The Dillinger Escape Plan, The Black Queen) and Max Cavalera (Soulfly, Cavalera Conspiracy, ex-Sepultura) — all sing. Sometimes, the three combine their voices in sublime harmony while, at other times, take turns, texturing the riff-intensive metallic foundation of the über catchy "Deconstructing Self-Destruction."

If you are interested please message instead of chat, I dont think the app I use supports it.
I will be adding music DVDs at some point, and probably more shit to trade if I get interest of people that have what I am looking for, which I am mostly not expecting.
I can also send pics of the merch or vinyl if interested, and again have something I need.
Hopefully this formats right, I've never done a post like this...

2020.10.29 15:39 calebeedude Recently I've been doing a project of listening to every album by my 10 favorite rock bands.

So my ten favorite rock bands are the all american rejects, the killers, swans, green day, half alive, paramore, queen, fall out boy, my chemical romance, and twenty one pilots. Yes, I know, its a lot of pop punk. Overall its 75 albums and I'm currently on 34/75, take this to your grave. I am doing them from oldest to newest, so I started with queen I, and I will end with imploding the mirage.

2020.10.28 14:57 sevenissix Your 3 favourite songs from each album ?

Mine:
Entropia
One of my very favourite album ever, hard to pick just a few songs out of the album that made me fall in love with PoS (along with Scarsick)
! (Foreword). Such a fantastic opening track. Was hooked the first time I heard it.
People Passing By. Incredible song. So beautiful. Its solo at the end is probably my favourite solo ever (Child in Time and Drive Home come close)
Leaving Entropia (Epilogue). I absolutely love Daniel's singing here. So raw, so emotional.
Special mentions to Stress and Nightmist.
OHBTCL
Quite possibly my least favourite PoS album (or RS1), yet I still love that album. My "issue" with it is that no track stand out (in terms of preference) which makes it really hard to pick a song here
Here, I'll go with the Handfull of Nothing/WateHome suite. The songs flow greatly into one another and are heavy in the right way.
Inside, New Year's Eve, Pilgrim and Inside Out come very close.
TPE, part I
It took me quite some time, but I grew to love this album so much, possibly my favourite PoS album. It will always be so hard to pick songs, won't it ?
Morning On Earth. I've always loved soft PoS songs, and this is one of their very best, and I relate to its lyrics a lot.
Dedication. Another incredibly beautiful soft song.
Falling/The Perfect Element. Simply put, probably their best closing track imo, despite the very serious competition.
Idioglossia, Her Voices, King of Loss and Song for the Innocent are all amazing songs that I had to mention.
Remedy Lane
The very first PoS album I've listened to. Undertow was their first song I loved. Such a great album
This Heart of Mine (I Pledge). A simple beautiful song, but I relate a lot to it.
Rope Ends. Do I need to say more ? Such a gut-wrenching song.
Chain Sling. Probably the best break-up song ever.
I also have to honor A Trace Of Blood, Undertow, Second Love and Beyond the Pale.
BE
Probably my favourite PoS album. Hardest to get into. The reward was incredible, however.
Dea Pecuniae. Incredible, weird track. I always was fascinated by it.
Vocari Dei. Very few songs moved me the way it did. So fucking beautiful.
Diffidentia. Another beautiful song. Another headbanger track. Killer song.
Of course, Iter Impius and Martius/Nauticus II are just as incredible and beautiful.
Scarsick
An amazing album, I never understood the backlash it received (same for their other albums though). Fantastic album through and through.
Scarsick. Another amazing opening track. I always headbang so hard listening to it.
Disco Queen. Self-explanatory I believe.
Flame to the Moth. The RAW emotions this song has is insane.
Shout out to Spitfall, America and Kingdom of Loss.
I'd like to mention now Hallelujah, the whole of 12:5 (in particular the ending with Ashes) as well as Linoleum non-RS tracks. If You Wait and Gone are fantastic songs.
RS1
Maybe my least favourite PoS album. I love it, but some songs not as much as the rest of their discography.
She Likes to Hide. One of the several wonderful, amazing songs on the album. Lyrics are great as well.
Sisters. One of their best tracks, imo.
Linoleum. Such a simple yet great song. And so fucking good live.
RS1 still has great songs, such as Tell Me You Don't Know, Sleeping Under The Stars, Where It Hurts or Road Salt.
RS2
A much more consistent album imo. With a killer opening and closing theme.
Softly She Cries. Something about this song just does it for me. I absolutely love Daniel's singing here.
Healing Now. One of their most beautiful tracks imo, with a strong identity, making me feel I'm in a different time somehow (something the whole album does to me, to a lesser degree)
The Deeper Cut. What can I say ? A great track from beginning to end.
To the Shoreline, 1979, Through the Distance and The Physics of Gridlock are all great tracks having nothing to envy from the TPE/RL era imo.
Falling Home.
I usually don't consider it a studio album like the rest, yet I feel I have to honor the fantastic work it does with giving us a new outlook on PoS' songs, in particular Stress, Linoleum and Spitfall, imo. And of course Falling Home is such a beautiful ballad, with a perfect blend of Daniel's and Ragnar's voices.
ITPLOD.
A fantastic album, so raw and emotional. I've always felt it a bit "cold" soundwise (which was probably intentional) making it not one of my favourite of theirs. But damn I fucking love that album, don't get me wrong (it's so hard to pick just 3 songs from that album)
Tongue Of God. There's something about this song, I don't know, I just fucking love it.
Reasons. Such raw emotions. So fucking great.
The Passing Light Of Day. Do I need to say more ?
I realised I was about to name all the other tracks as honorable mentions (except for Full Throttle Tribe and Angels of Broken Things, which I love just a little bit less than the rest). So I'll just mention Silent Gold, The Taming Of A Beast and If This Is The End, cause they are just too good.
Panther
A fantastic album whose diversity keep blowing my mind. I can't fucking wait for its sequel.
Restless Boy. I absolutely love that song. The drums are out of this world. And Daniel's use of vocoders plus really good, it reminds me of Daft Punk (in their use to create emotions, not just to sound robotic)
Panther. This song is so good, especially in the context of the album. And I love Daniel's singing, maybe because I also like Tori Amos.
Icon. Such a gorgeous song, as beautiful as Passing Light imo (these two are the only songs that rival The Perfect Element as the best closing track).
The whole album is fantastic, but I had to mention Wait and Species.
If you're still reading this, first thanks for that :) and most importantly, don't forget to share your favourite songs :)

2020.10.25 16:45 MerchantZiro [X-Buster] + [X-Buster: Reloaded]

This isn't some late contest entry for the video game stand contest, this is at least what I would have submitted if I was aware of it. For clarification, this is an updated version of my old Mega Man themed stand with a bit of tweaking to fix it a bit and implement some ideas I mentioned in the original. Enjoy.
STAND NAME [X-BUSTER] (Namesake: “X-Buster” by SOUND HOLIC from the Rockman Holic album, as well as the Mega Buster Mark 17 or “X-Buster” for short from Mega Man X that the song got ITS namesake from.) {https://youtu.be/H5uN33IOTgk}
DESIGN As a Long-Range Artificial Non-Humanoid Stand, it appears at first to be the user's arms turning a cyan color with dark blue rounded covering on his lower arm and his hands are now a bright white. (For reference, think Mega Man X’s arms and hands). Their arms are also now made of an unknown metallic material. The rounded coverings can then transform to turn into what can basically be described as the X-Buster from Mega Man X, a blue arm cannon with a red gem in a grey barrel at the end. It can also be automatically summoned in buster mode if in a pinch.
ABILITIES Buster Shot: In its buster mode, it can fire off shots of yellow energy that, despite their appearance, are not very powerful, probably only gives the opponent a small jolt of pain like it was an airsoft gun bullet, but that's it, doesn’t sound like much but it is enough to some minor damage with a barrage of shots. Each shot has a range of 20 meters before dissipating. If the normal shots aren’t enough It can be charged up for larger more powerful shots, the level of power the shot is dependent on the time it's charged up for, with the max being a large blue energy blast at 20 seconds of charging that is strong enough to break a 2-inch thick iron wall. Charge Shots have a range of about 40 meters before dissipating.
Copy Ability: It's main ability is being able to use the power of other stand users, if the user has been defeated/knocked out or they can get the user’s permission, the user can copy their stand’s ability. Alternatively the user can copy the ability by making any form of physical contact with the stand or stand user for more than 2 seconds to use their ability. However using this without permission or winning in battle will come at the cost of the weapon being temporary, lasting only 30 minutes to possibly an hour, while the earned weapon from battle or granted though permission is semi-permanent.
However, these copied abilities are more simplified and/or nerfed versions of the original users Stand. (E.G. Crazy Diamond's copied power would be a small glue-like substance that can repair things, The World would be a 5 second long time stop with a radius of 20 meters, Star Platinum would be increase the users physical strength and speed for punches and lifting things complete with the addition of his arms having larger fists and gauntlets, Gold Experience would be a shot that gives life, Hierophant Green would be an Emerald Splash fired from the Buster, Silver Chariot gives the user it's sword to swing, etc.)
Like in Mega Man X when you get the Buster Upgrade. Each copied weapon can be charged up for a more powerful version of the original power or possibly even another one of the original stand's abilities that is much more powerful. Like for Killer Queen, while normally it could be an explosive bubble shot, the charged version has the user fire a small homing missile that bears resemblance to Sheer Heart Attack and locks onto the nearest heat signature to it sans the user themselves and it can only explode once, or for Hierophant Green, instead of him using the Emerald Splash it could have him create a 20 meter Hierophant Barrier around himself.
Of course this would cost even more stamina to use and does need a full 20 seconds to charge, similar to the charge shot’s max power. Not even a second sooner, though a key sign of it being fully charged is the buster starts glowing with a green aura with X-Buster flashing cyan during charging.
WEAKNESSES -The stand is not much on its own and does rely on others abilities to be effective, it's also a more combat/attack based stand meaning it's not good for anything else than fighting without other's abilities. It's not useless without them but it would certainly be lacking a large portion of it's firepower without it.
-All copied abilities also come with the same or at least similar drawbacks and limitations to the original stands (E.G. Star Platinum has a limited range of how far it can punch due to its close range-based nature and Crazy Diamond can’t heal/repair the user of the stand, only other people and objects).
-Each copied ability and the buster itself drains stamina/energy from the user, and using too much power can leave the user way too exhausted and too tired to continue fighting.
-While the default mode's normal shots don't drain much, charge shots especially at maximum power definitely can leave them on the verge of fainting from fatigue with just a few shots. Bit using a charged copied power is much more draining to the user than the, making these choices a risky one with a great payoff if used effectively.
-The user can only have up to 10 weapons in reserve at a time and just like a Pokemon with 4 moves, the user must delete one to make room for the new one, though this is not the case for temporary abilities in which they can store 3 at a time. So the user can have up to 13 abilities maximum.
-Lastly, the copied abilities are stored on a small SD Card on the side of Buster and this SD Card can be knocked out or ejected from it, leaving the user with only the Buster. If the User has too many copied abilities, they can swap out the SD Card for a new one and keep the old one somewhere safe if they want to keep the abilities. However they must manually change it themselves, which is not easy in the heat of battle and puts the SD Card at risk of being destroyed. Also temporary abilities can’t be saved and will still remain regardless of an SD Card or not, which can be both a blessing and a curse depending on the circumstances.
So overall, [X-BUSTER] specializes in strategy and diversity with it’s copy ability allowing the exploitations in the enemies weaknesses, but falls flat in terms of close quarters combat power without any other abilities that provide a melee offense or defense. Also, the stand’s power is mostly dependent on how much stamina/energy the user has in them and what weapons they have equipped on them.
STATS Power - C (With Default Buster) ? (Can vary with Copied Abilities) Speed - None Range - None Durability - B (They are metallic arms, so it stands to reason that they should provide at least SOME level of defense, albeit very limited since they're still just arms.) Precision - C (With Default Buster) ? (Can vary with Copied Abilities) Potential - Infinite
BONUS
X-Buster: Reloaded (Namesake: “Reloaded” by SOUND HOLIC from the Rockman Holic album.) {https://youtu.be/xoyvEMOjUWw}
If the user was pierced by the arrow themselves not unlike Yoshikage Kira when he got Bites the Dust, I imagine they would get a new ability where they could equip two copied abilities at a time, allowing the user to use both powers at once or even combine them into an entirely new one. For example, combining Star Platinum's strength and punching speed boost with The World's Time Stop allows the user to replicate Star Platinum: The World to lay a ORA barrage beatdown in frozen time, but combining Killer Queen with Star Platinum gives the user explosive punches.
Considering all the interesting combinations that have been shown throughout Jojo in both the anime and video games, a stand that capitalizes on the potential of such wild combinations would be an interesting one that would be a big asset no matter which side they're on.
Of course, to prevent this from being too overpowered, it would be even more taxing on the user to use, about as much as when the use a charged technique would be. Also, the combined attacks CAN'T be charged and the user can't use temporarily copied abilities.
As for a X-Buster Requiem? I have no idea how that would work and would depend heavily on the situation.

The Grand Seiko polish and shine needs to be seen in person to be truly appreciated. The watch absolutely pops. This watch will come with a full kit including warranty paperwork dated 07/09/2019 from an AD in New York. I used this baby as a daily for 5-6 months and then it was part of a 3-4 watch rotation. The watch lived and was not a safe queen. With twins in the house, the watch collection has a very strict one in one out policy now, so this beauty has to go. I hope it finds a happy home.

2020.10.23 02:05 dougmcauliffe Ranking Every Camel Song Day 16: 30-26

Finally, a free hour! Lets crank out a few songs....
----------------------------------------------------------
30: Flight of the Snow Goose/Preparation (The Snow Goose)
Flight of the Snow Goose provides this very hopeful and upbeat introduction to side two of The Snow Goose coming right off the heels of the sorrowful Rhayader Alone. The Snow Goose always makes me think of this meme, we'll have this fast paced and optimistic instrumental followed immediately by something very soft, textured and melodic, but it's this contrast between the two that makes The Snow Goose such a gratifying album. There's a brief fade in as Peter Bardens keys slowly rush towards you before Latimer takes the lead providing a great and somewhat nostalgic sounding melody. At 1:33 Peter Bardens takes over on the synth and man, those tones are fat! They really cut deep. Doug Ferguson is also lowkey going ham in this section of the song. The track leads right into Preparation which is a very interesting track with an acoustic guitar setting the stage with a pretty steady 5/8 motif overlaid with some very pretty woodwinds. This nearly indescribable synth/electronic spin on the acoustic motif seamlessly fades in and it lays a very atmospheric groundwork while a multitude of ear-candy sound effects and wordless female vocals play around it. This passage is super hypnotic and mesmerizing.
29: Dunkirk/Epitaph (The Snow Goose)
In hindsight, I probably should have just included these two with Flight of the Snow Goose/Preparation. But changing it now would mess up the numbers so we'll just settle with this. So coming straight out of Preparation a thumping bass and kick drum fade in not long before Peter Bardens organ joins the fun. I love the little fills the band does properly keeping this buildup interesting (0:24 for an example). Soon, Latimer joins the buildup first teasing with some light volume swells before providing another counter melody on top of everyone else. There's horns and electric piano subtleties going on while Andy Ward starts to give it a little more of a marching feel. Soon, you realize that the buildup is reaching a tipping point sounding very full and grand before dropping into an absolutely killer closing jam. Andy Ward is drumming away, the rhythm he uses on this song is one that I can only ever associate with Camel (Separations ending is the first case of him using it I believe), even though he didn't invent it by any means (You can even find it on Return of the Giant Hogweed). Now on top of this, Andy Latimers guitar is screeching away while Bardens plays this very epic sounding chord progression on the Organ. Ward squeezes in some hype and hard hitting drum fills (are those gated drums in 1975?!?!) while the band is able to turn it on and off like a light switch. Towards the end of the song, the band collectively squeezes in these sick arpeggiated fills offering a little variation in this playout. This track leads into Epitaph which works as a great bookend of this 4-track suite properly tying it all together. It reprises that aforementioned hypnotic sound-effect-laden passage from preparation. In the background of this there's what I think is either electric piano or organ providing a very lowkey but nevertheless great undertow to this song.
28: Stationary Traveller (Stationary Traveller)
This song is a bit of a fan favorite and for good reason, this is a lovely and very magical instrumental. It opens with some soft but lively sounding piano, nylon string guitar and synth sitting in the background. I don't know what it is, but I adore the electric piano sound that comes in soon after the little introduction. It's dripping with atmosphere. Coming in top of this is a very earthy sounding flute accompanied by lovely synthesized textures. As great as this is, it's really the closing guitar solo that lifts me off my feet. It's just so emotional and uplifting, my friend stumbled upon the live version of this track on YouTube and he was telling me just how blown away he was by it. I this glorious extended guitar solo lasts for just the perfect amount of time, it doesn't overstay its welcome and Latimer makes every note count. The song ends and properly fizzles out. This is such a fantastic and unique piece of music that for my money, eclipses Ice. Stationary Traveler is an album that over the course of making this ranking, has really grown on me. I think if I redid the list some of the songs would likely come in a bit higher.
27: The Sleeper (Breathless)
I love this track and I'd go as far as to call it underrated. I can't say I can really think of another song like this. I find that the intro to this track falls a little under the radar to some, but I love the quirky atmosphere the band creates for a brief time. I'd love to see a whole album in this Camel Jazz Fusiony style that they lightly touched on with some cuts off Rain Dances. The main riff kicks in and it's just so darn groovy, the rhythm section sounds particularly punchy and bouncy on this track. Bardens, as per usual, delivers some fresh and new synth tones while sitting in the pilot seat here. If someone asked me what Mel Collins best contribution to Camel is I'm pointing to this song. Because around the 3 minute mark he really comes into the forefront and it's his playing that sets this track apart in my mind and distinguishes it from some of the other Camel songs of similar length. While he's laying down some sweet lines, Andy Ward and Richard Sinclair continue to slap you with these crunchy and complex rhythms. Around the 4 minute mark Mel really starts to let loose while the rest of the band comfortably set the stage for him. Now in the latter half of the song, Andy Latimer channels the same explosiveness you can find on Lunar Sea for one fiery jazzy guitar solo. The band ties it all back together and ends this song on a lightly frantic note. Listening back as I do this write up, this really is a great tune and one that I just never tire of.
26: Coming of Age (Harbour of Tears)
Coming of Age is the climax of Harbour of Tears and it does a fine job being the excellent payoff that the album needs. Latimer showcases one great memorable melody after another for 7 minutes and change. Opening with a very driving and sophisticated sounding passage, things get going very quickily. Latimer uses a lot of very interesting playing techniques and doesn't shy away from stepping into the background at moments which works as a strength. The little section at 1:35 is a good example of this, he strums away while this very creative drum and organ thing goes on. Following this, it really delves into an explosive territory with this brief but very menacing build up before it takes off into orbit. Now moving at a faster pace, Latimer lays down this beautiful celebratory guitar melody that I just live for. Following this glorious playout, it kicks into a bit of a almost playful sounding jam with layers of synths and other keys followed by a very airy delay guitar passage. The absolute peak of the song comes with the closing playout which is just nasty, it's really one of the heaviest moments in Camels discography with a stomping synth providing the backbone for Latimer to lay down a filthy headbanging riff. I love the arpeggiated keys that come in around halfway through, it's something I find myself drawing a lot of influence from in some of my own music that i've written. I have to note 6:29, that brief little keyboard passage has always been so damn cool to me. This is a great cut, Harbour is another album that's grown a lot on me over the course of making this ranking but I'd still comfortably say this is the pinnacle of the album.
